A Taste of Honey: Sukiyaki

A Taste of Honey is better known for their monster 70′s disco hit Boogie Oogie Oogie but they also had a hit in 1981 with Sukiyaki. Sukiyaki is a well known Japanese song from the 60′s (in fact it was the only Japanese language song to ever top the charts in the US) and A Taste of Honey sang an English translation of the song.

For Your Eyes Only is the theme song from the James Bond movie of the same name. Sheena Easton released the song in 1981. She is the only 007 theme song singer to actually appear in the opening credits of the movie.

We’ve Got Tonight was originally written and recorded by Bob Seger in 1978 and reached number 13 but it wasn’t a really big hit until Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton sang it for Kenny’s 1983 album of the same name. A crossover hit, it topped the country chart, hit #6 on the pop charts and #2 on the adult contemporary charts.

Sergio Mendes: Never Gonna Let You Go

Sergio Mendes is a massive star in his native Brasil and enjoyed some popularity in the US. He had a hit in 1968 with Look of Love and again in 1983 with Never Gonna Let You Go which he co-sung with Joe Pizzulo and Leza Miller. The song was originally written for Earth Wind and Fire but they passed on it; Dionne Warwick recorded it in 1982 but Sergio had the hit with it.
