The Go-Go’s had a hit in 1982 with We Got the Beat from their debut album Beauty and the Beat. They were the first all-woman band to write songs and play all their own instruments and top the Billboard album charts. Belinda Carlisle went on to a successful solo career after the Go-Go’s broke up in 1985.
